Laotian food is spicy and hot with full on flavours. I detected a whiff of the dried out fish, along with the fresh herbs and salty broth.
Stuffed vegetables were everywhere. Whenever I eat them now it evokes such a strong sense of that place in that time.
Not only does the food taste better when it's fresh and seasonal, but it's also a good reminder to slow down and appreciate the good things that grow in the place you live. They say home is where the heart is, but I reckon stomach is more accurate for me.
